We are continuing to do are weekly light sand topdressing to the putting surfaces. Thea helps to provide smoth surfaces and dilute the thatch(build up organic matter under the canopy). The sand also provuds some drainage or atleast provides better air space air the crown of the plant. One of the most important jobs for the greens is to manage the water. Too much =dead grass, not enough water =dead grass.
Since the greens are biuild from mostly sand they drains relatively fast. That is why we have to water a day or two after a good rain shower.
The other added benefit of the sand toodressing is that it helps shade out the algae and helps to dry it up.
