Painting Target Greens
Jay is appling turf paint to the Zoysia grass target greens. It is highly recommended to not overseed this grass, so we paint them to give a good color contrast throughout the winter. The color should last 8-10 weeks.

Heads being moved from greens edge
The irrigation heads that water the turf around the greens are to close to the bent grass greens. These heads are only suppose to water the Bermuda grass surroundings. What we have found is that when we run these heads more than five minutes the excess water runs down and onto the putting green surface. The major problem is during the heat of the year (May through September, the excess water causes the bent grass to become weak and die. The summer of 2010 we decided to not water the Bermuda grass surrounding the greens unless we did it with hoses or operated short cycles with the irrigation system. We had great success with the bent grass but the Bermuda stayed dry and off color. We feel that moving the heads further away from the putting surface and also placing them on the down slope which allows for the water to travel away from the putting surface will give us more control and freedom to operate the heads more freely in the coming years.
